Your Sponsored Products Campaigns Now Run in Creator Content — By Default
As reported by PPC Land and other advertising trade outlets, Amazon updated its off-Amazon Sponsored Products documentation on August 4, 2026 to add creators to the list of destinations where the format can serve, with a start date of August 10, 2026. Placements run through creator content from the Amazon Influencer Program.
The detail advertisers need to register is the enrollment model. According to that reporting, existing campaigns were enrolled by default, at their existing bids and budgets, and Amazon's notice stated that no advertiser action is required. In other words, this is not a new campaign type you opt into. It is new inventory your current campaigns can now spend on, using the targeting, bids, and budget you already set for something else.
Coverage described the reported scope as advertisers running Sponsored Products in Brazil, Canada, India, Mexico, the United States, the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey, and select European Union countries, with the United Kingdom reported as excluded. Everything here reflects what was publicly reported as of August 2026 — confirm what applies to your account in the Amazon Ads console.
"Default-on inventory is the quietest budget change there is. Nothing in your account looks different on the day it starts — you find out three weeks later when the placement report tells you where a chunk of the money went."
— Maya Patel, PPC & Advertising Specialist
That is not an argument against the placement. Creator content is genuinely high-intent inventory and it may well perform. It is an argument for looking, deliberately, in the first few weeks rather than assuming your ACoS drift has the usual causes.
How the Placement Actually Works
Five mechanics determine what this means for your account. As of August 2026, based on the reported documentation update and subsequent trade coverage.
| Mechanic | What was reported | What it means for your account |
|---|---|---|
| Enrollment | Existing Sponsored Products campaigns enrolled by default at existing bids and budgets; no advertiser action required | You are already in it unless you changed a setting — check rather than assume |
| Budget source | Off-Amazon placements use the campaign's existing targeting, bids, and overall budget | No separate budget line — creator spend competes with your on-Amazon placements for the same daily budget |
| Campaign controls | Two campaign-level settings under a section reported as Settings for ads served off Amazon: Increase reach (the default) and Limit off-Amazon spend, changeable at any point during a campaign | Your lever is per campaign, not account-wide — and it limits rather than eliminates off-Amazon delivery |
| Creator selection | Amazon recommends products to creators, creators self-select which to feature, and clicks route to the product detail page on standard cost-per-click billing | You do not choose the creator; reporting indicates specific creators can be excluded, but creator inventory cannot be switched off at account level |
| Bulk management | An Off-Amazon ad serving column was reported to have been added to Sponsored Products bulksheets on June 8, 2026 for US advertisers | Large accounts can audit and set the control across many campaigns at once instead of clicking through the console |
As of August 2026. Details are as reported by third-party advertising trade coverage of Amazon's August 4, 2026 documentation update; setting names, availability, and geographic scope can differ by account and marketplace. Amazon can change placements, controls, and eligibility without notice — verify current settings and availability in your own Amazon Ads console.
What to Do in Your Account This Week
The right response is measurement, not a reflexive shutdown. Work these five in order.
Your Creator-Placement Audit Checklist
Find the off-Amazon setting on your top-spending campaigns
Open your highest-spend Sponsored Products campaigns and locate the settings section for ads served off Amazon. Record which option each campaign is on today, so that whatever you conclude in three weeks, you know what the baseline was.
Baseline your placement report before the data mixes
Pull placement-level performance for the four weeks before August 10 and save it. Comparing post-launch performance against a saved baseline is the only reliable way to attribute a change to new inventory rather than to seasonality or your own bid edits.
Split-test rather than deciding on instinct
Leave the default on a representative group of campaigns and set the limiting option on a comparable group for three to four weeks. Judge them on the same metric you judge everything else on, ideally contribution margin rather than ACoS alone.
Watch your budget-capped campaigns most closely
Campaigns that already exhaust their daily budget before end of day are the ones where new inventory does the most damage, because every off-Amazon impression is displacing an on-Amazon one you know converts. Uncapped campaigns simply spend a little more.
Use bulksheets if you manage more than a handful of campaigns
The reported off-Amazon ad serving column lets you audit the setting across the whole account in one download and change it in one upload. Doing this campaign by campaign in the console is how accounts end up half-configured.
Give it a fair test window. Creator content puts your product in front of an audience that arrived for a recommendation, and that is a genuinely different context from a search results page. It may be your cheapest new demand source this quarter, or it may not suit your category — your own placement report is the only source that can settle it.
On our sourcing: This article summarizes Amazon's reported August 4, 2026 update to its off-Amazon Sponsored Products documentation, and the August 10, 2026 start of creator placements, as covered in August 2026 by PPC Land, Affiverse Media, and Be Bold Digital. Those sources agree on the default enrollment, the shared campaign budget, the Increase reach and Limit off-Amazon spend controls, the June 8, 2026 bulksheet column for US advertisers, and the reported geographic scope including the United Kingdom exclusion. The August 1, 2026 advertiser payment change comes from Amazon Ads' published advertiser payments notice, which described it as affecting a group of directly contacted advertisers — do not assume it applies to your account. Q4 2026 peak fulfillment fee and surcharge figures are as reported in July and August 2026 by EcomCrew, Ecommerce North America, and AMZ Prep. We did not independently audit Amazon's ad serving behavior. Verify all settings, placements, eligibility, fees, and billing arrangements in your own Amazon Ads and Seller Central accounts. This is general information, not financial advice.
